They enjoy helping players of all ages and standards and have experience of training players at state, national and international level.

Nick Watkins established the High Performance Tennis Academy in 1999 to help elite players train full time and to reach National and International level. Samantha Stosur trained with Nick from the age of 10 until she turned 19, when she began travelling on the pro tour full time.

Nick Watkins

Nick is the head coach of the High Performance Tennis Academy. I have played the best game in the world since I was 5 year old. I have been fortunate to teach tennis for the past 36 years & even though I have trained many players at a national & international level, I love just as much helping club players achieving their goals, & beginners starting their journey into our amazing sport. I have coached 2 juniors that have played in the Australian Open junior event . It was a great experience for them & myself to see them play at the highest level.  In November 2018 Sam Stosur ask me to help her with her game & coach her through the 2019 Australian Open summer. Because I had coached Sam from the age of 10 to 19 & have had a strong relationship with her ever since. I thought i could really help her at the end of her AMAZING career. With only 4 weeks training before the Brisbane international Sam had played very good singles that summer in Brisbane,  Sydney & the AO. Sam also won the AO Ladies doubles title that year with her regular partner Shuai Shang. Working with Sam, Shuai & her coach Robert was a great experience. Considering they were not seeded & also defeated the top 2 ranked teams in the world in the semi final & final, it was a great result for the 4 of us.  I have volunteered on different committees for Tennis Gold Coast & been chairman of the junior fixtures & grading Committee for the past 25 years.
